3-Row Graduated Pearls, Georgian Amethyst & Diamond clasp c.1820
A stylish amethyst and diamond set pearl necklace.
The triple row of graduated cultured (Akoya) pearls is strung with a beautiful Georgian oval amethyst and diamond cluster clasp.
We believe that the clasp was probably initially a Georgian ring converted in the Victorian era to a clasp. The clasp has a beautiful foiled amethyst surrounded with a border of old cut diamonds in a silver and gold setting. The clasp has a tongue catch with a gold thumb piece.
The pearls are well matched with a good lustre and ivory in colour.
