Art Deco Carved Jade Ring c.1930
A stylish Art Deco ring with a carved green jade plaque set in a six claw rectangular mount. The ring has split shoulders with a central diamond set section. The ring is typically Deco in design being low set to the finger designed to wear on its own.
Jade was a popular choice for Art Deco jewellery following Cartier's extensive use of the stone in the early 1920's. The gemstone is revered in Chinese society where Confucius praised jade as a symbol of righteousness and knowledge. In Chinese culture Jade is customarily thought to influence health and prosperity, and ward off negative energy.
