Art Deco Jade Ring c.1930
A stylish Art Deco jade ring
This simple design has an oval jade plaque finely set in a millgrain edge within a gold mount. The ring has tapered shoulders onto a slender gold shank typical of the era. The jade is a lovely soft green uniform in colour. This lovely ring is beautifully low set to the hand.
Jade was a popular choice for Art Deco jewellery following Cartier's extensive use of the stone in the early 1920's. The gemstone is revered in Chinese society where Confucius praised jade as a symbol of righteousness and knowledge. In Chinese culture Jade is customarily thought to influence health and prosperity, and ward off negative energy.
