Art Nouveau Peridot Brooch c.1905
An elegant Art Nouveau peridot brooch by Barnet Henry Joseph.
This beautiful brooch has a rose gold stylised whiplash design which curves around a cartouche shaped peridot with an oval peridot drop. The peridots are in a fine rubover setting with a milgrain edge and are a beautifully matched deep green in colour.
The brooch has a simple sprung pin to the reverse, typical of the era.
The renowned jeweller Barnet Henry Joseph (1865-1929) commenced production of wholesale jewels in 1865 in Birmingham and from 1878 opened showrooms in London. BHJ was said to be one of the largest jewellery houses in the trade and supplied to Liberty & Co in London. We believe this is probably a Liberty & Co piece due to the specific 9CT stamp.
