Edwardian Peridot & Pearl Neglige Drop c.1905
A feminine Edwardian peridot negligee drop necklace with peridots finely set in gold suspended on articulated knife-edge bars in this typically Edwardian design. The bars are so fine giving the impression that the peridots are hanging in mid air when worn against the skin.
A negligee is a necklace of fine links with 2 parallel pendants one hanging slightly lower than the other. They were often given at marriages in France symbolising a union of two hearts.
This beautiful necklace is suspended from a fine trace chain with original barrel clasp.
