Edwardian Sapphire Grape & Vine Brooch c.1910
A stylish Edwardian sapphire and diamond bar brooch.
The brooch is designed as a stylised bunch of grapes with 3 beautifully matched bright blue sapphires and an old cut diamond in milgrain setting as the grapes and 2 rosecut diamond set vine leaves. The diamonds are mounted in platinum and the sapphires in yellow gold.
The brooch has a fine bar design typical of the era and a sprung pin to the reverse with a 'bullnose' end to protect the wearer from the end of the pin.
Grapes and vines have long been associated with abundance and fertility.
