Russian Emerald & Diamond Gypsy Ring c.1910
A stylish Russian marked emerald & diamond ring.
This elegant ring has a vibrant cabochon emerald to the centre between 2 oldcut diamonds in a gypsy setting. The emerald is a beautiful colour and sits 'proud' of the shank in a design typical of the gypsy rings popular from the Victorian era onwards.
The old cut diamonds are both typically old-cut in nature and sit with the table of the stones higher than the gold of the ring.
The ring is beautfully made and has a Russian Kokoshnik 56 mark to the reverse. It also has a 14 carat St Petersburg stamp for pre 1914. The makers hallmark is very worn so it is now impossible to know for certain the name of the goldsmith who produced this beautiful ring. The previous owner had the ring for over 30 years and told us that when she originaly bought it the makers mark was there, she wore the ring a lot over the 30 years and sadly for us the mark is now untraceable.
