Victorian MIZPAH Ring c.1879
A fabulous Victorian Gothic MIZPAH ring in 18ct gold.
This wonderful ring has MIZPAH in Gothic relief script within a wide gold band.
Mizpah is a Hebrew word that has come to symbolise an emotional bond between two people. The phrase, “The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent one from another,” immediately follows the mention of Mizpah in the book of Genesis.
Mizpah rings rose to popularity in the early Victorian era and were exchanged between close friends or family, often after a long separation. They remain popular to the current day.
Antique Mizpah rings are extremely collectable often given as a coming of age gift at Barmitzvahs and Batmitzvahs.
The ring is in beautiful condition and fully hallmarked to the reverse and further date stamped 'D' to the front.
