Victorian Sapphire & Diamond Locket Ring c.1890

Victorian Sapphire & Diamond Locket Ring c.1890

SKU: RS136
£2,650.00Price

An unusual Victorian sapphire and diamond locket ring.

The ring has 3 beautifully matched bright blue sapphires within a border of oldcut diamonds in a marquise design.

Unusually the ring has a glazed locket compartment to the reverse of the ring - presumably for a lock of a 'loved ones' hair.

The ring is finely made in 18ct yellow gold with 'carved' shoulders onto a plain shank. The gemstones are all claw set and the ring has a fine coronet mount.  It is in fabulous condition.

The ring was made by the famous British manufacturer Alabaster & Wilson

Arthur Alabaster and Thomas Wilson founded Alabaster & Wilson in 1887 producing fine English jewellery in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. They built a state-of-the-art factory in Legge Lane employing the highest quality craftspeople. They produced fine English jewellery, which established the company in the international jewellery market. The company traded for 130 years, eventually closing in 2017.
