Victorian Sapphire & Diamond 'Snowflake' Pendant c.1890
A fabulous late Victorian sapphire and diamond pendant.
The pendant in the design of a stylised snowflake with a central old cut sapphire set within a border of old cut diamonds and sapphires in an open design.
The pendant is beautifully made and has a central fitting which would originally have been for a tiara or hairpiece and might have been used at a later date for a brooch or centrepiece of a pearl necklace. We could commission a new fitting if required.
The pendant has a fold down pendant loop and a (later) fixed top ring and is low set, sitting beautifully on the neck when worn.
Era: Victorian, 1837 - 1901
Measurements: Total sapphire weight estimated 2.3 carats
Total diamond weight estimated 2.2 carats
Pendant 2.9 cm in diameter (excluding bail)
Hallmarks: Unmarked, tests as silver & 18ct gold
