Art Deco Carved Jade & Onyx Pendant c.1930
A beautiful Art Deco Jade pendant.
The pendant has a large carved Art Deco Jade panel suspended from a facetted onyx set white gold hinged runner ring.
The panel (untested for treatment) has carved decoration with branches and a flower to each side.
Jade was a popular choice for Art Deco jewellery following Cartier's extensive use of the stone in the early 1920's.
The gemstone is revered in Chinese society where Confucius praised jade as a symbol of righteousness and knowledge. In Chinese culture Jade is customarily thought to influence health and prosperity, and ward off negative energy.
Era: Art Deco, c.1925 - 1940
Measurements: Pendant 5.7cm in length, 2.7cm at widest point.
Hallmarks: Unmarked, tests as white gold
