Edwardian Sapphire & Diamond Pendant c.1905
A stylish sapphire and diamond pendant from the Belle Epoque era.
The pendant is beautifully made with a platinum front and gold reverse typical of the era.
There is an old cut sapphire suspended from a diamond drop to the centre within a diamond mounted ribbon and swag border. The pendant has a natural pearl drop to the base which is also articulated and moves freely when worn.
It is a delicate and feminine piece and wearable for any occasion.
The Belle Époque era (French for “Beautiful Era”) dates from the end of the Franco-Prussian War in 1871 to the outbreak of World War I in 1914, “The Belle Époque” was so named in retrospect, when it began to be considered a “Golden Age. The jewellery of the era is characterised by fine platinum work with garlands, wreaths, lace, bows, ribbons and swags.
