A beautiful row of cultured (Akoya) pearls with a Victorian diamond clasp.

 

The pearls are strung with a Victorian clasp comprising an old-cut diamond in a cut-down silver and gold setting typical of the 19th-century.

 

The clasp has a tongue fitting with an integral thumb piece and a figure of 8 safety catch which folds over the side of the clasp, keeping the necklace safe when worn.

 

The pearls are an ivory colour and have a beautiful lustre.

 

Era: Victorian, 1837 - 1901

Measurements: Diamond estimated 0.60 carats I/J colour

Pearls; 6-9mm diameter

Necklace; 48cm in length

Hallmarks: Clasp with no assay marks - tests silver and gold
