Art Deco RAF Sweetheart Brooch c.1940
A classic Art Deco Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch.
This elegant brooch is made in 18ct white gold with an Art Deco RAF motif set onto a green enamel laurel wreath under a red enamelled Kings crown. The realistically detailed feathered wings are set with diamonds. There is an integral safety clasp to the pin keeping it safe when worn.
The brooch is in wonderful condition.
Sweetheart brooches have been popular since the early 20th century and were originally given to wives, mothers and girlfriends by servicemen as mementos and reminders of the absent loved one. They were worn to show pride in having a sweetheart who was serving his country.
