A beautiful Royal Air Force sweetheart brooch with a gold RAF motif set within a green enamel laurel wreath within the wings insignia and set under a red enamel and gold King's crown.
The brooch has a gold pin with an integral safety clasp to the reverse.
Sweetheart brooches have been popular since the early 20th century and were given to wives, mothers and girlfriends by servicemen as mementoes and reminders of the absent loved one. They were worn to show pride in having a sweetheart who was serving his country. They were made for every budget from base metal to platinum, and designs were made for every aspect of the military.
