Art Nouveau Gold Floral Locket c.1905
£995.00
A beautiful early Art Nouveau floral round locket.
This wonderful round locket has an elegant Art Nouveau styled design of the ‘morning glory’ (or 'bindweed') vine to the front.
In the Victorian language of flowers the morning glory vine has long been associated with unrequited love and was seen as a symbol of love in vain. It was often used in art and poetry to represent innocence and purity.
The locket has its original matt 'bloomed' finish which was a popular gold finishing technique from the end of the 19th Century.
The locket is hinged to one side and has two hidden notches allowing it to be opened which reveals the locket compartment. The locket is in beautiful condition with a simple gold runner ring to the top.
This lovely pendant would look fabulous on a gold chain, ribbon or cord. We can supply a chain if requested (at an additional cost).
