Art Nouveau Turquoise Pendant - Murrle Bennett c.1905
A beautiful Art Nouveau turquoise pendant by Murrle Bennett.
This stylish pendant has a large central matrix turquoise in a simple 15ct yellow gold Celtic revival design mount.
It is open to the reverse typical of Murrle Bennett's designs and has an articulated smaller matrix turquoise drop to the base. The original pendant bail is suspended from a stylised heart shaped top section.
The pendant is signed to the reverse and is in excellent condtion.
It could be worn on a chain, cord or ribbon.
Murrle Bennett & Co was established in 1896 in London by Ernst Murrle & J.B Bennett. They specialized in high quality affordable silver & gold jewellery and produced jewellery predominantly in the Art Nouveau style.
Their designs were often characterized by abstract motifs typical of Art Nouveau and the Arts & Crafts movements. Often comprised of Celtic inspired interlacing elements, stylized foliate forms, pierced geometric shapes, luminous enamels & semi-precious stones. Many of their items were made for and sold by Liberty & Co in London.
