Charles Horner Edwardian Enamel Scarab Brooch c.1909
A fabulous silver enamel Scarab brooch by Charles Horner.
This elegant stylised scarab brooch has irridescent pale blue enamel wings with reddish/purple wing tips and a rich blue enamel abdomen. The enamel is in perfect condition.
The brooch has a sprung pin to the reverse typical of the era and is fully hallmarked.
Charles Horner of Halifax produced silver and enamel brooches, pendants and items of vertu. The local jeweller turned international manufacturer took high fashion to the masses through mass-production methods, innovative designs and marketing genius. Charles Horner's pieces were typically manufactured in bright enamel colours and Art Nouveau designs were popular in stylised insect and floral jewellery.
