An elegant feminine antique negligee drop necklace.
The necklace has beautifully matched peridots finely set in 15 carat gold with a milgrain edge suspended on articulated knife-edge bars in this typically early 20th century design.
The bars are very fine giving the impression that the peridots are hanging in mid air when worn against the skin.
A negligee is a necklace of fine links with 2 parallel pendants one hanging slightly lower than the other. They were often given at marriages in France symbolising a union of two hearts.
This beautiful necklace is suspended from a fine trace chain with original barrel clasp.
Era: Edwardian, 1901 - 1920
Measurements: Pendant 6.2cm in length, 1.4cm at widest point.
