Victorian Silver Locket c.1881
An elegant double sided Victorian 'Aesthetic Movement' oval locket.
This beautful locket is intricately engraved to the front with a swallow in flight over water with reeds and bamboo and to the reverse with a floral spray within a floral border.
The 2 compartments with their orginal blue silk liners are still inside with their silk backing perfect for two photos. There is a concealed hinge to one side of the locket and a large hinged bail to the top. The locket is in beautiful condition and is incredibly stylish to wear.
The Aesthetic Movement celebrated ‘art for art’s sake,’ separate of any historic motifs or meanings.
Era: Victorian, 1839 - 1901
