A supersized vintage 18-carat gold ladybird charm.
This realistically modelled charm has a hollow construction and is quite a character with red and black enamelled detailing to the front to create the details of the ladybird. It has gold beadwork 'legs' and a plain, polished gold back.
It is unusually large in size and in great condition. Ladybirds symbolise good luck, fertility, rebirth, and protection in many cultures. Ladybirds are widely considered good luck omens, often associated with prosperity and the successful protection of crops from pests like aphids. Historically originating in Britain as "Our Lady's bird," the name refers to the Virgin Mary, with its red colour and spots representing her cloak and, traditionally, her seven joys and sorrows.
The charm does not have a chain, but we can provide one if required (at an additional cost).
