Brutalist Turquoise Ring circa 1970

SKU RG220
Price

£2,250.00

A stylish Brutalist turquoise ring from the 1970's.

The ring is set with a central cabochon turquoise, open to the reverse, enclosed by a gold organic openwork surround of branch and granule form, with further organic gold work to eeach shoulder.

The ring has a wide gold band to the reverse and sits low on the hand.

Brutalist jewellery was popular from the mid 1960's until the early 1980's. Goldsmiths experimented with melting gold under controlled temperatures. The result was a profusion of new textures; as well as plain, smoothed or sandblasted gold, the metal was chiselled, reeded, hammered, corded and braided, and made to resemble bark, sand, and faux nugget finishes, along with geometric shapes and seemingly haphazard arrangements of elements.
