Vintage Ruby and Diamond Ring c.1976
£3,450.00
A stylish Brutalist vintage ruby and diamond ring from the 1970's.
The band style ring is set with alternating oval rubies and brilliant cut diamonds within a textured asymmetric wide band.
The gemstones are all in 4 claw coronet mounts set slightly higher than the band of the ring. The ring has a wide flat band to the reverse with a textured bark style finish to the top. It fits neatly to the hand and is low set to the hand.
This stylish ring would make a fabulous completely unique engagement ring.
Brutalist jewellery was popular from the mid 1960's until the early 1980's. Goldsmiths experimented with melting gold under controlled temperatures. The result was a profusion of new textures; as well as plain, smoothed or sandblasted gold, the metal was chiselled, reeded, hammered, corded and braided, and made to resemble bark, sand, and faux nugget finishes, along with geometric shapes and seemingly haphazard arrangements of elements.
