Edwardian Pink Sapphire & Diamond Cluster Ring c.1920
RR011
£4,500.00
A beautiful Edwardian pink sapphire and diamond ring.
This stylish ring has a vibrant pink sapphire (pink ruby) to the centre finely claw set in yellow gold surrounded with 10 oldcut diamonds in an oval cluster design. The ruby is a vibrant pink colour perfectly complemented by the white of the diamonds.
The ring is finely made and sits low to the hand typical of the Edwardian era. It is perfect for everyday wear and would make a lovely engagement ring
Ruby vs Sapphire: Ruby is defined as red corundum. The presence of chromium is largely what makes a corundum gemstone red. All other varieties of corundum, anything that isn't red, are classified as sapphire.
Although generally associated with the colour blue, sapphires actually include all non-red coloured corundum gems, including pink which is the boundary between rubies and sapphires as pink is commonly considered a light tone of red.
