Art Deco Green Zircon Ring c.1930
£3,250.00
An unusual Art Deco green zircon ring.
This wonderful ring has a large old cut green zircon in a handmade 8 claw coronet mount. The ring has a beautiful openwork under bezel and plain tapered shoulders onto a plain white gold shank.
The green zircon is a fabulous green colour and the ring is in fabulous condition. Green zircon is much rarer than the blue variety more often seen. Most of the green variety are found in smaller sizes which are not often of gem-quality, making larger and high-quality green zircons highly prized. The green colour is caused by the presence of trace elements within the crystal structure, particularly uranium and thorium.
As zircon is a slightly softer stone than some others we would generally not advise this type of gemstone being worn on an everyday basis, the ring is perfect however as a 'dress' ring and a fabulous accessory with so many outfits from jeans to the little black dress.
