A classic Edwardian sapphire & diamond 2 stone ring.
This elegant ring has an old-cut sapphire and an old-cut diamond on a twist. Each of the gemstones are finely 8-claw set in a classic gold coronet mount open to the reverse.
The ring has slender plain shoulders onto a rose gold shank. It is really low set to the hand, typical of the Edwardian era and sits neatly on the hand when worn..
The ring is perfect for everyday wear and would make a fabulous engagement ring.
This design is commonly referred to as a "toi et moi" ring from the French for 'you and me'. With the two principle stones representing two hearts or souls entwined. It was popularised in France in the late 18th Century by Napoleon who gave his wife Josephine a ring of a similar design as an engagement ring.
