Edwardian Diamond Cluster Earrings circa 1910

A fabulous pair of Edwardian diamond cluster earrings.

Each cluster has a larger old-cut diamond at the centre within a border of 8 smaller old-cut diamonds in a classic design. The central diamond is set slightly higher, and all the diamonds are mounted in a fine gold coronet setting open to the reverse. The front of the earrings is overlaid in platinum onto rose gold backs, typical of this style.

The earrings have sprung hook (sleeper) fittings for pierced ears. The setting is open to the reverse.

This style of earring is known as 'dormeuse' after the French popularised the setting at the end of the 19th century. This setting was designed to be left in the ear overnight, hence the word 'dormeuse' or 'sleeper.'

They are perfect for everyday wear and a timeless pair of earrings that will take you from day to night and any occasion.
