Georgian Pansy Ring

Georgian Pearl & Diamond Pansy Ring c.1810

SKU: RP031
£1,350.00Price

A pretty Georgian diamond & pearl ring.

This elegant ring has a central small old cut diamond set within 5 natural pearls each with a diamond accent between the 'petals' to represent a pansy flower. The shoulders are beautifully figured with a central pearl within a scrolled floral design.

The ring would have had a locket back originally but this has long since disappeared. In common with this Regency design the ring is low set to the hand.

The pearls are original and have a warm colour in line with their age. One pearl to the shoulder has some slight damage to the nacre but this does not detract from the beauty of the ring.

In the Georgian era the pansy design was used to refer to the French pensee "think of me" and this ring would have been a lover's gift.  This ring, in common with the vast majority of Georgian pieces will not take 'heavy' wear being over 200 years old.  Rings of this age are increasingly hard to find.
