A classic Georgian pearl memorial brooch.
The oval brooch has a central glazed locket section containing a lock of hair typical of the era. The brooch has two rows of half pearls surrounding the centre (assumed natural) with the outer border in a beautiful gold cut down setting. The brooch is closed to the reverse, and is engraved in script with the initials EJ; CMJ; EJ.
The brooch has a simple hinged pin on the reverse, typical of the pieces from this era. It is in lovely condition and a beautiful example of Georgian craftsmanship.
Era: Georgian, 1714 - 1837
Measurements: Brooch 2.5cm (1") in width, 2.2cm high.
The brooch weighs 4.2 grams
Hallmarks: no assay marks, brooch tests as 15ct gold
