Georgian Ruby & Pearl Ring c.1810
£1,750.00
An elegant Georgian ruby and pearl ring.
This beautiful ring has a central ruby in a cut down setting surrounded with 4 large natural half pearls each set with a ruby between in a quatrefoil design.
The ring has intricate detailing with acanthus leaf engraved shoulders and is in beautiful condition. The engraving details are also on the sides of the shank meaning the ring cannot be resized without affecting the original engraving.
The ring would have originally had a locket back to the reverse of the head which has sadly long gone. These rings were very popular in the early 1800s and would probably have been given as tokens of admiration. They are as wearable now as they were then.
This ring, in common with the vast majority of Georgian pieces is a dress ring and will not take 'heavy' wear being over 200 years old. Rings of this age and in this wonderful condition are increasingly hard to find.
Era: Georgian, 1714 - 1837
Measurements: The ring measures 10mm in width
Ring Size: N (UK) 7 (US) 54 (EUR) This ring cannot be resized
Hallmarks: No assay marks - tests as over 18ct gold
