Georgian Forget me Not Locket Ring c.1830

A beautiful, large late Regency era pearl and agate locket ring.
The ring has an oval agate with a carved 'forget me not' flower in relief at the centre. The white band of the agate is exposed, showing the details of the flower against the black stone. This is surrounded by a border of 12 pearls (untested, assumed natural) in a cluster design. We believe the pearls are all original. They are typical of the era with a very slight variation in colours and a lovely warm lustre.
The head of the ring is finely mounted in a yellow gold cut-down setting, closed to the reverse. The ring has beautiful acanthus leaf 'split' tapered shoulders onto a reeded shank typical of the late Georgian period.
The ring has its original glazed locket under the head enclosing a plaited lock of hair. This was typical of the Georgian era.
It is later engraved Elizabeth Harper 3rd July 1850 to the inside of the shank. It is very low set to the hand and is in wonderful condition.
This ring, in common with the vast majority of Georgian pieces, is a dress ring and will not take 'heavy' wear, being approximately 200 years old. Rings of this age and in this excellent condition are increasingly hard to find.
