Mid Century Aquamarine Cocktail Ring circa 1945
£8,250.00
A wonderfully stylish aquamarine cocktail ring from the mid 1940's.
This fabulous statement ring has a large emerald-cut aquamarine in an elegant 4-claw mount typical of the 1940's and 50's. The ring has a wonderful handmade gallery with scroll and beadwork details. This is open to the reverse, letting light into the aquamarine.
The ring has wide flared shoulders with ribbed and rope-twist details, which taper to a wide gold band at the reverse. The ring is a warm gold colour between yellow and red, again typical of mid-century design.
As would be expected with a gemstone of this size, the ring sits fairly high on the hand as it is designed to be worn as a statement cocktail ring.
The seawater colour of aquamarine has given this gemstone its name, as the word “aquamarine” derives from the Latin word for seawater.
