Victorian Aesthetic Silver & Gold Brooch c.1880
A beautiful Victorian Aesthetic movement silver and gold brooch
This wonderful silver concave brooch has 3 swallows each in a different colour gold applied in an engraved overlay to the front. The brooch is beautifully figured with a stylised myrtle branch to one side.
Swallows symbolise love returning and Myrtle is a symbol of love and partnership and a flower often used in wedding bouquets.
This unusual brooch is fabulous quality and we believe probably continental in origin. There is a handmade pin to the reverse which is sprung allowing a good fit when being worn.
The brooch is in fabulous condition with no dents or dings and only a few surface scratches to the front in keeping with 140 years of careful wear.
