Antique Diamond Caduceus Brooch - Giuliano c.1900
BR174
£3,250.00
A fabulous late Victorian pearl and diamond caduceus brooch attributed to Giuliano in its original fitted case.
The caduceus is the traditional symbol of Hermes and features two snakes winding around an often winged staff. It is often used as a symbol of medicine.
The brooch is set with rose cut diamonds to the body with a pearl to each end. (Untested - assumed natural saltwater). The gemstones are mounted in silver onto a yellow gold reverse typical of the late 19th Century
The brooch is finely made and is in beautiful condition. We believe the pin fitting has been changed to encorporate a later safety clasp (probably in the 1920's) and the original makers stamp may have been lost at this time.
