Edwardian Tennis Racket Brooch c.1910
An unusual and rare Edwardian novelty gold brooch realistically modelled as a tennis racket.
The racket has fine gold 'strings' with a natural pearl 'ball' attached and a small ruby set to the shank of the head. The brooch is finely made and has a sprung pin to the reverse.
Tennis had become a popular sport for middle class ladies in the Victorian era with the Wimbledon Championships adding Ladies Singles to the roster in 1884.
