Georgian Topaz & Pearl Ring c.1820
A large Georgian Topaz Ring.
This wonderful ring has an oval 'foiled' natural golden topaz in a cut-down setting surrounded by a border of 20 natural seed pearls.
The shank has twisted wirework detailing and taperes to the reverse. The back of the ring is closed, typical of the Georgian era. This ring would probably have been worn initially over a glove as a statement of wealth.
This ring, in common with the vast majority of Georgian pieces is a dress ring and will not take 'heavy' wear being over 200 years old. Rings of this age and in this condition are increasingly hard to find.
