Kochert Chalcedony Penguin Brooch c.1950

An unusual and quirky carved Penguin Brooch in a design typical of the 1950's. The penguin is realistically figured from carved chalcedony (a blue-ish form of quartz) and set with a cabochon ruby as an eye and 18ct gold wings, beak and feet.

 

The brooch was made by Kochert who are one of Austria's premier jewellers.
