A stylish mid 19th-century circular locket.
The gilt metal locket has beautiful engine turned engraving to both sides and has a hidden hinge and notch to open the locket to one side. The locket opens to reveal a glazed compartment to one side with a beautifully tied lock of hair inside.
The other side is beautifully engraved in script

We have researched the names and believe them to be; John Campbell Erskine Macnab was born on 5 June 1838.1 He was the son of James Munro Macnab and Jane Mary Campbell. He was killed on 10 May 1857 at age 18 at Meerut, India. Flora Mure Campbell Macnab was born on 16 March 1821. She died in September 1821.
The locket has a runner ring to the top for a chain or ribbon. It does not have a chain, but we can provide one if required (at an additional charge).

Measurements: Pendant 2.3cm (1") diameter, 4.6 grams in weight
Pendant weighs 3.5 grams
Hallmarks: no assay marks - tests as gilt metal.
